Preparing for the Future Scholarship

The “Preparing for the Future” scholarship awards graduating seniors at Mankato Christian Academy up to $5,000.00 as they embark on their journey towards higher education, the workforce, joining the military, entrepreneurship, missionary work, or non-profit volunteering. The scholarship aims to recognize and reward outstanding individuals who demonstrate a clear vision for their future and who embody the ideals of MCA.

Personal Vision Statement Guidelines:

The application is a Personal Vision Statement that outlines their five-year goals and how they plan to achieve them. The statement should be well-structured, concise, and clearly communicate the following:

  1. Description of their long-term goals, their motivation driving them toward those goals, and the steps they will take to achieve them.

  2. The impact they hope to make for their family, church, and/or community.

  3. How they will use the $5,000 to support their endeavors.

 

Application Process:

  1. Application Submission: Interested applicants must complete the scholarship application form (provided below). The Personal Vision Statement should be attached to the application form. Students will work with MCA staff as they craft their statement. 

  2. Recommendation: The applicants must obtain a recommendation letter that speaks to their academic achievements, character, and ability to fulfill their stated goals.

  3. Deadline: All applications and supporting documents must be submitted via email to mankatoca@gmail.com by 5:00 PM on the last Friday in March.

 

Selection Process:

Initial Screening: The school administration will assess the Personal Vision Statements based on clarity, creativity, feasibility, and alignment with the scholarship's purpose. The MCA administration will forward their recommendations to the MCA Advisory Board for final approval. The Board may request an interview with finalists if necessary. 

 

Scholarship Award:

  1. Announcement: The scholarship recipient will be announced publicly, and their Personal Vision Statement may be featured on the MCA website or social media to inspire others.

  2. Disbursement: The $5,000 scholarship grant can be used for the following purposes:

  • College or trade school tuition fees.

  • Seed money to start a business or entrepreneurial venture.

  • Donations to a charitable cause or nonprofit they are passionate about.

  • Obtaining essential tools or materials for work or school (i.e. books, tools, membership fees, etc.…)

  1. The disbursement of funds will be determined on a case-by-case basis

  2. Publicity: By accepting the scholarship, the recipient agrees to participate in promotional activities related to the scholarship, such as interviews, photos, or videos.
